What Me Blog?

October 1, 2002

Another year goes by and I ask myself why do I bother. I mean, you and I both know that I’ll never update this damn thing anyways.

On a humorous note, my last entry from a year ago talks about a djb obsession at $CURRENT_EMPLOYER. Less than a week ago I implemented djbdns for SME Server in my spare time. Time flies when you’re having fun.

See you next year :)

Gainfully Employed!

November 30, 2001

So I’ve finally found a job… I’m now working for Mitel in the Network Server Solutions Group. I’ve worked with some of these people before and I really appreciate the project. It’s kind of nice to be working for a company with a clear focus again.

It’s also cool to be working with people like Skud and Dan York. I’m very lucky to have left a company like VA with as many talented engineers as they had and wandered into a company with equally dedicated and commited employees.

Their apparent obsession with software written by djb is still a mystery to me, but to each his or her own I’d guess. I guess from a security stand point it probably makes sense. I just haven’t always seen eye to eye with djb’s views historically.

Regardless, the product is amazingly robust and has a proven track record for reliability and security that speaks for itself. I encourage anyone interested to visit the community web site for more information on the product and its architecture.

I’m still alive… I suck at this whole web logging thing. Someone hire me.

Fun With GDB….

August 24, 2000

Hacking
Today was bugfix day. I found and squashed a number of fairly serious bugs in the SYSSTAT and USER_ADM modules. VACM is moving along rather nicely. I’ve pushed beta 3 back to ensure I get all these bug fixes in before we release it.

I’ll have to cut it tommorrow I guess. I need to get Beta 3 released so we can branch CVS. We’re all looking forward to getting back into development mode.

Personal
Jules is feeling pretty tired lately. That sucks… I don’t really know how to help make her feel better either. My dog appears to have discovered he’s a male while at the kennel during my trip to LWCE.

Unfortunately he’s only five months old so I can’t get him fixed yet. Sucks to be me.

Toronto During Rush Hour Is Not My Friend

August 23, 2000

Hacking
I’ve been working on the next generation of vash, the CLI for VACM. It’s coming along rather nicely and i’m pretty happy with it. The current version of vash kind of crept its way into existence and is now functional, but gross.

In preparation for Beta 3 I’ve gotten CVS ready for a branch. We’ll push forward in the devel tree and simply bugfix in the release branch.

Shopping
San and I spent the morning travelling to Ikea where we purchased a desk. It willl be nice to actually have a workspace when I’m there. My eyes are bugging out from staring at laptop screens all day long.

Television
Yes, I admit I was glued to my television watching the final episode of survivor tonight. Kind of funny since I don’t watch TV very often at all.
I was surprised at the outcome… I was kind of hoping the senile old guy would win. Oh well… back to reality I guess :)

Personal
Still no baby. I’m beginning to wonder if this is all a hoax. Anyways, the doctors visits are happening every week now so I guess I’ll be a daddy soon enough. I’m getting pretty damned ancxious though.
